“Typically, that era of painting was championed by male artists, so I loved the idea that this soft pliable object, which was precious but made to be used and accumulate wear, had the same impact on me as hard-edged geometric images,” Tyler said.

The Oklahoma landscape continues to influence his work, especially the vast skies and dramatic sunsets that filled his upbringing. “I grew up in a small town in southwestern Oklahoma where you have big skies, rolling plains, and amazing sunsets,” Wyatt shares. “I love a good sunset - there’s something captivating about that transition, the colors – I try to memorize every moment.” These moments of natural transition deeply inform the palette and energy of his paintings.
