From Chaos to Beauty: Art After a Stroke

Steveorino Phelps

Owasso, OK

Join us for a remarkable exhibition by Steveorino Phelps, a seasoned artist and illustrator who has redefined creativity after a life-changing experience.

For over 40 years, Phelps graced publications like Saturday Evening Post, Better Homes and Gardens, and Ebony magazine with captivating illustrations. However, in April 2023, a hemorrhagic stroke left the left side of his body paralyzed.

Undeterred, Phelps embarked on a new artistic journey, discovering the power of expression through his remaining right hand. This exhibit, titled “From Chaos to Beauty: Art After a Stroke,” showcases his captivating scribble portraits – both of adorable children and iconic figures. While they appear as detailed portraits from afar, a closer look reveals a symphony of intricate scribbles forming the image. Witness the transformation of seemingly random strokes into stunning faces.

This exhibit is a testament to the human spirit’s ability to adapt and find beauty even in unexpected ways.
