Young’s mixed media art, which uses a combination of charcoal and watercolor, may be familiar to Tulsans because of his art works in local restaurants The Bramble and Juniper. Young also painted five murals in the domes of the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma and collaborated on the Mayfest mural in 2008. Young’s paintings combine elements of the human form with geometric shapes and symbols of the divine. He studied at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. Young worked as a commercial photographer early in his career and also did a stint as a tattoo artist.

 

“The overall objective of my work is to create a focused, meditative experience that explores life, nature, and the divine,” Young said.
