Dorris B. Levasheff was born & raised in Tulsa; she received a Bachelor’s in Fine Art from Oklahoma State University in 1983. She specializes in painting & developed original jewelry designs made of recycled telephone wire. Her work consists of colorful abstractions inspired by childhood dreams of being immersed in protons and gluons and by the connectivity between all living things. After she earned her BFA, Dorris displayed her work at various galleries in California such as the Los Angeles & San Francisco Folk Art galleries. Her work migrated to the New York American Craft & Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Museums. She also illustrated fashion designs for several major retailers including Macy’s. Dorris continues to work in her home in Tulsa & does occasional arts exhibitions & festivals.
